Wild Horse Canyon

Every year we ride up the cottonwood Canyon or coal basin near Cameo, Colorado to see the wild horses. In the spring we are lucky to see young foals with their mothers, and often the Stallion stands as a sentinel and protector of his little herd. We always ride at a respectful distance, but because we are on horses, the wild ones readily accept us. This is a wonderful day ride, with the desert in bloom in early spring and colors changing in the fall. The summer months are too hot and dry for rides in these canyons.
