Moon Run Ranch is a full service, natural horse training and horse boarding stables, facility in Snowmass, Colorado.

The Moon Run Ranch boarding facility offers 15 large 12' x12' box stalls with five large turn out paddocks, and two larger pastures for groups of horses in a herd situation. There are also two riding arenas, a round pen, numerous trails leading from the ranch and one private trail that leads directly into the wilderness. Jumps can be set for practice & pre show schooling. During the summer months, there are opportunities to work horses with cattle, and participate in both the Western & English master clinics.

All horses are cared for personally. Each day every horse is led from paddock to stall for special feeding, blankets or sheets are removed, and horses can rest and relax in

the cool, fly free environment. This schedule makes life easy for owners to bring horses out of stalls for grooming, tacking, & riding. All horses are managed in a holistic way. Horses social friendships, genders, physical and emotional strengths and ages are all taken into account when aligning them in their individual programs.

PRICES FOR 2008

BOARD

Monthly board is $750.00/mo. which includes stall with turn out, hay and grain 2/day, blankets and sheets off & on by staff. For 2 or more horses $725.00/mo.

TRAINING & EXERCISE

We will ride your horse with emphasis on reinforcing good ground manners, standing while mounting, & quiet, respectful response to hand, seat, & legs, while in the ring & on the trail. All horses will be groomed before the ride, including picking hooves, & will be given a bath after the ride, to remover sweat & salt from their bodies. Please talk to us about any behavioral problems that occur when you are working with your horse. We will work to improve your horse’s behavior and education which will enhance your riding enjoyment.

TRAIL ACCOMPANYMENT

Staff members will be, at your service, to accompany you on trail rides when you do not want to ride alone. Please realize that the workers at Moon Run Ranch earn ranch wages & work very hard for their labors. Any monies that they realize for their time with you is needed & appreciated. They give of their time and riding expertise to help keep you informed & safe.

DAY RIDES OFF RANCH

Accompanied $60.00/ day/ client

GROOMING & SADDLING

We will give your horse a spring clean up, which includes : Warm soap bath w/conditioner, hoof cleaning & conditioning with products, clipping of bridle path & fetlocks.

$50.00/time

Geldings should have their sheaths cleaned at least twice/ year : Warm wash with special sheath cleaning soap, rinsing thoroughly, and medicating w/ ointment if necessary.

Hoof care which includes : picking hooves, cleaning outside of wall, applying hoof care products to wall & sole, special product around coronary band.

RIDING LESSONS

English riding lessons will be offered by Michelle Bonfils :

Private lessons $60.00/hr.

Group lessons $50.00/hr.

School horse fee $20.00/hr.

Western lessons with Holly McLain :

Private lessons $80.00/hr.

All lessons, English & Western, will emphasize a solid foundation of corrects rider position for stability & proper balance. Coordination of rider’s hands, seat, and legs will insure subtle communication between horse & rider. At Moon Run Ranch we use the natural horsemanship philosophy of “Less is more”. The quiet, subtle approach of communication with your horse is taught for a true partnership between horse & rider. Besides private ranch lessons, we offer clinics by master horseman for our continued education.

TACK CLEANING

All equipment is cleaned with Murphy’s oil soap, oiled with Neatsfoot oil, then conditioned & protected with RM Williams saddle dressing with bee’s wax.

EXTRA CHARGES

All other extra expenses include:

Blanket repair for your horses – We provide a free drop off & pick up for your damaged blankets & sheets. There will be a separate bill for each individual repair.

Blacksmith – Shoes by Tim Tordoff & Mark Lucas are charged separately specific for each horse. If owner is not available to handle their horse, there is a $8.00 handling fee.

Veterinarian – All medical charges are separate & extra for each horse and veterinarian visit. If client can not be available to handle their horse, there is a $8.00 handling fee.
