GALA (PENNYLANE)

GALA - outstanding broodmare, 16 h., 14 yrs. old in 2003, chestnut mare. She is by Salvan out of Giegy, and is sound to ride, however, she is a better broodmare than a riding horse. I believe that her past experience with forced training and then being used as a jump mare for breeding made her trust in mankind somewhat dim. When I bought her I spent two years regaining that trust, and rode her on the trail and spent a lot of quiet time on the ground letting her know that life was simple and she was safe. She is very sweet and both of her foals on the ground are extremely logical and kind.

Gala ( stable name "Pennylane" ) is an excellent broodmare. She has gotten in foal with artificial insemination on the first try for each of the three times she has been bred. She has text book births and all of her foals have been healthy and normal, if not outstanding. She is a good mother and raises her babies well. Weaning has been normal and not overly traumatic.

Gala is an outstanding mover, and is a full sister to " Sandor" who won the USDF 1993 5th place for All-Breeds Award, first level, and USDF 1994 National Champion in the All-Breeds Award Division, second level. He was then retired to become a riding horse for his owner. His trainer said he was an incredible talent, who could have gone on to perform exceptionally well at the upper levels.

Gala and 2002 foal William Wallace

Gala was never shown and seemed to go from a divorce settlement to an owner who ended up in prison for embezzlement. When I bought her she was 11 yrs. old and had accomplished little. This Riverman colt is her second foal.

My intention is to take her to a Sweedish Warmblood inspection, however, the closest this year was in Washington State. There will be an inspection in the Denver area this year, which I will attend. I will definitely show all of the offspring in the Western States Region, so Gala's babies will be seen.

Hilltop farms informed me that they were only breeding to premium mares starting in 2002. I sent a letter with photos of Gala and her Riverman foal. They responded immediately by saying they would absolutely breed to her again because of the quality foal produced.

Reason for selling - I will keep her Riverman colt as breeding stallion, therefore I won't breed to Gala.

Gala had a Riverman colt, June 12th and is for sale for $15,000.00 with foal by her side. She sells for 7,000.00 by herself. I would also be interested in doing part trade-cash for a filly that I could breed to Gala's Riverman colt. A good home is very important to me, as all my horses are special to my heart.
