Maria
grew up with horses in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
She rode in the United States Pony Club (USPC) organization
as a youth. USPC educates riders in the disciplines of
horse management, dressage, show
jumping, and cross country jumping. Maria competed throughout
Colorado and the Midwestern states, eventually earning
her "A" rating, the top level of
honor possible.
After graduating from USPC, Maria continued her riding
career in Spain for two years, where she rode everything
from racehorses to international level dressage horses.
Maria has been working with horses professionally since
1989. In the last eleven years, she has studied with many
world-renowned trainers. She has competed at the FEI level
in dressage as well as choreographing and performing "equine
dances" at the National Western Stock Show and other
events along the front range. Along with providing the
highest level of technical instruction necessary for classical
dressage, Maria is dedicated to teaching safe horse management
and horse handling skills. She also has an extensive background
in education, dance and movement studies. She provides
this knowledge in her teaching, which gives all her students,
horses and humans alike, this supportive and dynamic instruction.
