Moon Run Ranch offers continuing education clinics,
featuring masters from all disciplines such as natural
horsemanship, centered riding, natural horse training,
dressage, jumping, cow working, new techniques in farrier-shoeing,
chiropractic, and animal communication. The trail riding
around the ranch is another wonderful way for horse
and rider to maintain that special bond between themselves
and nature. The Snowmass Creek Valley is the home of
Moon Run Ranch and the starting point for one of the
trail-heads of the Maroon-Snowmass Wilderness. From
the ranch proper there is a private trail which leads
directly up Johnny Draw to Hunter Pass and then the
Capitol Ridge trail to Haystack Mtn., and from there
deep into the wilderness.

Because of her classical training in both Western
and English disciplines, she brings a unique knowledge
to her Out-West boarding facility. Originally
from Pennsylvania, she grew up on a farm without
horses. She would look through old photo albums
and would find picture of her grand parents on
their horses. After begging incessantly, at the
age of eight, she finally got a horse. That one
horse started a life long quest for knowledge
in the art of horsemanship. She is currently training
people & horses, and offering her knowledge
to all who come to Moon Run.

Mauricio Canales
–Mauricio has been at Moon Run Ranch for seventeen
years, and is a quiet, steady force in the every
day workings of this special place. Originally from
El Salvador, he worked on his father’s ranch
as a young man. He is 35 years old, and has a family
in the valley. You will see him driving heavy equipment,
mowing lawns, feeding & handling the horses,
repairing fence, irrigating the fields, and any
thing else that the ranch requires. Mauricio is
gentle when handling your horses and recognizes
when we have a medical problem with the animals.
Always smiling, he adds a positive energy to your
experience at Moon Run. |

Lynn Mooney –
Lynn Mooney is originally from Rome, Georgia and has been in the valley for 5 years. She is going on her 4th summer, here, at Moon Run. She was classically trained in English riding through the U.S. Pony Club and then moved her riding career toward Western disciplines. Outside of daily ranch chores, Lynn spends individual time with each horse here at Moon Run Ranch. Over the last 3 years Lynn has been giving beginner lessons, exercising client horses and accompanying them on rides. She also aids Holly in finishing horses to be sold. Her natural quiet demeanor with the horses carries over to her relationship with her clients as well. When working with the horses she emphasizes good ground manners, standing while mounting, and a quiet, respectful response to the riders’ seat, leg and hand. Communication is natural and quiet so the horse and rider develop a true partnership. All horses are groomed and properly cooled down following the session. Lynn will be glad to help with any behavioral problems or other problems the rider may have with the horse. She can be a great educational tool for you and your horse and add to your riding enjoyment.
